The Christmas Tree...more traditions!

It is a family tradition to decorate our tree as soon after Thanksgiving as possible! We also have a tradition of Jug finding a good football game and stringing yards of popcorn for the tree!

Also, Jug's parents gave each of their children a new Christmas Ornament every year and we have continued that tradition with our 5 as well. This year's ornaments included:
For Kaycee a cell phone to get her by until she is 16 (which she was not amused about!)
For Reed a Baseball Bat to remind him of his trip to NY
For Coleman a BYU Hoody to remind him of the SEVEN hoodies he has "misplaced" this year
For Janey a Purse to represent her first year of School Shopping!
For Abbie a Princess Crown...just because...she's 4 and loves princesses!
It is a fun night everyone looks forward to and a great way to get the Christmas Season underway!!

SEVEN hoodies, Cole? You ARE related to Tyler :) We have several kids who misplace their stuff too.

Wow Jug...I am impressed with all of the popcorn stringing...I'm going to let you in on a little secret, popcorn lasts year after year after year. We strung some our 2nd year of marriage and we have used those same popcorn strings every year since--I am not even kidding. I can't guarantee it tastes good but it looks as good as the day we strung it!!!

Jug has a "Jim" from the office look in that picture!

We tried saving popcorn, but mice found it once and then the cranberries shriveled up. Just our luck.
I love that Jug is smiling for you, but not taking his eye off the TV. What a man!

Love that guy and your tree. We finally found the perfect "deal" for Christmas, Wynn puts up the pre lit tree while I put up the outside lights on the house. But he makes sure they get turned on each night. I think us "Jacklin's" get the short end of the stick :) Jug looks like he is having more fun than I did on my task. We can't wait to come see your tree in real life, and those new ornaments. I also need to find ours for this year, why do we buy early?!

I love that you do the ornament tradition. Drew and I have decided to do the same thing for our kids. Both our parents gave us a box of our ornaments when we got married so our fake 6 foot tree is already filled with ornaments. I think it is a great thing for your kids to have and remember their childhood by, plus it gives them a sense of home when they move out! Glad to see you are doing it!

I love your tree. It always looks so pretty. And I, like Lisa, noticed that Jug's eyes were still on the game. Very funny.....and it would be the same at our house. hahaha
