Keeping Christ the Center of Christmas

After 15 years of marriage and 5 children...we have collected our fair share of nativities. We have them displayed in several different places throughout the house. It is interesting to me that even though they are all made of glass, (except for our prized "Fisher Price" set) none of the pieces have ever been broken, no small feat with 5 different toddlers! Our young children, as I'm sure most children are, seem to be especially sensitive to the Baby Jesus. There is a certain kind of reverence they have when they handle the figures from the nativity. I love to watch them (especially when they don't know I am!) arrange the pieces. One common observance is how they position everyone to be as close to the Baby Jesus as possible. It's as if in their own little minds they are putting their own desires into the nativity pieces, wanting all to be able to see and be as near as possible to Him as they would have wanted to be if they had been there. This year after finding Abbie's re-arrangement I decided to document it...what a great lesson for me...reminded to keep Christ in the center of Christmas!

This is exactly why I collect nativities! The nativities are the decorations I can count on my kids begging me to help set out. I love this picture and story!!!
