We have chosen our pumpkins! We go to this funny little house by our church where the owner leaves a great selection of fall produce outside with the following "honor" box...

We try to expand our "festive" recipes and food beyond the usual Ghost Sugar Cookies!

This year we have included "Putrid Punch", the "Mummy Calzone" (we've got a ways to go to have him magazine photo friendly...but he was DELICIOUS filled with ranch butter seasoning, mozzarella cheese, chicken, ham and bacon!!)

And...these funny snake breadsticks. (M&M eyes compliments of Kaycee!)

We have painted Halloween nails...

and we even enjoyed a spooky fire and picnic dinner up chilly Payson Canyon!

But of all the Halloween traditions...teaching my kids a couple of holiday songs is my favorite! It is the only time of the year I INSIST they all gather around the piano while I play and EVERYONE (yes...even Jug) sings, "Witches Flying in the Sky" and "There's No Such Thing As a Witch". It takes me back to my early school days when we would go into the gym at Grovecrest Elementary and look at all the Jack-O-Lanterns that had been brought in for the annual contest and then sit on the stairs of the stage and sing these same songs!! I loved it then...and I even love it more NOW!!
Back in the day of being a new mom with only Kaycee, I was introduced to the rhyme of "Five Little Pumpkins Sitting on a Gate". We have a cute little board book I bought of it when Kaycee was very little. It actually became the first poem she memorized. I thought that was so cool, so I have made every other child learn and memorize it when they get to be about 3 or 4. Since we've moved to our West Mountain home it has become a regular part of all October Family Home Evenings. This past week, much to the older kids horror and the little kids delight, I decided to document it on film!
Yes...there really are a few perks to parenting! Happy Halloweeeeen!!!

Okay....that is the cutest thing ever. I love that. The best part was thinking of the big grin on your face as you were filming it. What darling kids and family you have. You are such a terrific mother and a great example to me. Thanks so much for your friendship.
I'm glad someone loves Halloween. The kids are pretty cute. I do love the fall season. The only good thing about Halloween this year is that it marks Jordan's 1 year down!!!Love ya all
So cute! Halloween reminds me of you and so does that poem! What great children you and Jug have, and they are so lucky to have such fun, loving parents. I just want to know how you did the picture with the hands on the fire? It looks like the hands are touching the fire! Great pictures. I love the snake breadsticks... cool eyes Kaycee!
