Championships...

So, as we have been involved in different athletic programs with our children for the past 10 years, we have discovered having opportunities to play in "championship" games are hard to come by...and WINNING them is even a more rare experience.

Well, over the past couple of weeks our boys had the chance to not only make it to a couple of "championship games", but forged on to WIN them!!

This is Reed's 8th grade Bantam team.
They have come a LONG way!
I think they started playing together 2 years ago during 6th grade.
They have definitely had their fare share of seeing
the other side of winning!
But, this spring they were able to take the
Spring Bantam B League!!
Good Job Guys and...
Good Luck as you prepare for your High School Careers!!

This is Cole and his new baseball team!
They played in the
Spring (ha ha...hardly felt like it) Fling Tournament
in Riverton over Spring Break.
After 6 games they were able to pull out the
Division B Championship!
With a nice trophy to boot.
(Good thing there was SOMETHING to show for our
wind-whipped faces and frozen toes!)
Good Work Sugar Kings...way to keep with it and not give up!

And while I am at it...we will give an honorable mention to
Cole's Basketball team.
This is their 4th season together and
they are getting better and better!
They have good coaching that really helps them
understand the game of basketball.
They made it to the championship in their Spring AAU League,
but lost to Springville in a heart-breaker!
Don't worry boys...you'll get them next year!

The moral of the story?
Play sports for the LOVE of the GAME!
But...enjoy those "glory days in the hot sun"
when they come along,
because they can be far and few between!!
(Especially in Riverton!)

Great Job Reed and Coleman!!! Athletic talent runs in your family for sure. I hope you had fun getting the Championships and I'm sure you will see many more.

In our family it's all about the trophies...the kids don't care if it's for a win or honorable mention, the more trophies the better! And when there aren't MVP's given out sometimes Papa Dave has MVP trophies made up for the kids--like I said, it's all about the trophies!

I think that's the stuff that character is made of!!! Win or lose, it's all about the team and the hard work. Sports are a pretty great way to learn all about some of life's toughest lessons, (good and bad!!!) good for you guys!!!!!!
