April 23, 1996 Reed McKay Jacklin joined our family. He gave us a bit of a scare when he came out, as Grandpa Flinders eloquently put it, "trying to hang himself". The cord was wrapped around his neck twice, but after a little work from the doctor "all was well"...and has continued to be for the last 13 years.
Reed has always been a very pleasant, easy going boy. One who does not like stress or contention. Needless to say he has always tried to be a peacemaker in our home, in addition to keeping us smiling with his great sense of humor.
When Reed was little he not only LOVED Buzz Lightyear and the SuperHero Friends, I think he kind of thought he WAS one of them!! Hours and hours and were spent imagining he was going "to infinity and beyond"!!
But as he grew, so did his interests, including a compassionate love for animals. He is responsible and caring...except where our cats are concerned...teaser is probably a more appropriate word here! (Yes, he has been caught with his brother jumping on the tramp with Cookie the cat!) But especially when it comes to Danner, Reed has always been sure that he is well taken care of.
Overall, Reed has grown up to be a fine young man! Always making a great effort in all that he does. It is especially obvious in his love for athletics. We are often complimented on his great work ethic, focus and effort that is put into any sport that he is participating in.
Reed also has a love for the great outdoors...especially fishing, riding horses, hunting and spending time at Grandpa's Cabin.
Reed we want you to know how blessed we feel to have you as a part of our family! We all appreciate your kindness and great example. We hope you never change...because we know, in more ways than one, you are a great catch! Happy 13th Birthday...we LOVE you!!

Wow. Now two teenagers. Look out. Happy birthday, Reed. I'm sorry we didn't call you on your big day. When I thought about it Logan wasn't around. Then, we were gone in all different directions tonight. We hope you had a wonderful day! We sure think you are hot stuff!
